What is the purpose or meaning of life?

It depends on the perspective you take: long-term, mid-term, or short-term.

The Long-Term Perspective

For the longest view, let’s consider the eternity of the soul, where Life Purpose is about the growth of the soul.

One way to think about the soul’s growth is in terms of Virtues.

Humanity has studied the importance of virtues since Plato’s time. Recent scientific research into virtues includes the VIA Strengths.

There are many virtues. Each of us will resonate with different ones. This individual difference shows us our specific long-term purpose for this lifetime.

Which virtues do you feel called to work on in this lifetime?

Write down the virtues that resonate with you. You can choose among what I wrote above, or pick any others that come to your mind and heart.

Then try this:

At the beginning of each month, take 5 minutes to think about 1 virtue and what it could mean in your life.
